PSP Game Downloads - What You Need To Consider

by A R Thompson

Even before you start downloading anything onto your PSP whether it be games, music, videos or movies there are certain things which you will need to take into consideration. If you keep in mind the guidelines we provide in this article when it comes to getting PSP game downloads the task will be that much easier and simpler to complete.

At the time of buying your Sony PSP it may be wise to invest a little money in getting yourself a good quality memory, especially if you are going to be playing large numbers of games on yours. Look for ones like the Pro Duo Card which comes with a very large memory base and is also suitable for using with the Sony PSP.

If you are downloading games from the internet onto your PC before you put them on to your PSP rather than directly on to your PSP you need to check that they are in the right format. If they are not then actually downloading them from your PC on to the PSP will be much more difficult to do. So first off you need to check what operating system (firmware) is installed on your PSP and then you need to find games to download which are compatible with it.

When looking at the various different download websites and you have found a game that you want to down load the first thing you should do is check the file. Only ones which end in “PSP” are suitable for you to download. This is important to remember as a number of websites will offer the same program in a number of different formats as they are cater to all the various gaming consoles now available.

If you are choosing to download games for your PSP on to your PC you will need to get a compression application program, because the fast majority of files held but download websites have been compressed. This is so that they are able to free up more space for them to then provide even more files for their users to select from. For people with PC’s that run Windows, WinZip is the ideal compression application whilst those people who own Mac’s are better off using a program such as Expander.

Once these folders have been unzipped you will discover that there are two files contained within the folder that you have downloaded. Once folder contains the game itself and the other is a “read me” file which has come from the author of the game.

The next step in order to get the Sony PSP game downloads off of your PC on to your PSP is by connecting the two together. This can be done through connecting the two together using a USB cable. On your PSP you will need to press the home button and then go to the settings feature.

In the settings menu you now need to go down to “USB Connection” and then press the “X” button which will then allow the memory stick inside the PSP to connect with your PC. As soon as the connection has been made you can then start to transfer the games from one to the other, but remember to put the files you are transferring into the right folder on the memory stick. So whether you are transferring PSP game downloads or other kinds of PSP downloads if not placed in the correct folder you will find that they will not work properly.
